Revolutionary Styling and Features of the Awning Window

Interested in learning about the different window types? Let’s start with the awning window. This window is characterized by a hinge at the top that allows the bottom to be pushed out several inches. Why would you want this window? We can discuss a few benefits of choosing an awning window for your home.

The View. In general, the eye tends to go the center of a window or frame. So when you look out a window, you will naturally look to the center. By choosing an awning window, there are no frames or dividers that run through the glass that would interrupt your view. You have a clear view to the outside, giving you a great view. Not only that, but awning windows are a great window for ventilation.

A secure window. As mentioned earlier, an awning window can only open several inches wide, making it very difficult for someone to crawl through this window without actually breaking the glass. Because an awning window is normally constructed to be fairly wide in its measurement and relatively narrow in height, this makes it a difficult point of entry for a burglar.

Aesthetics. Awning windows have a distinct look to them and will immediately set that part of your home apart from the rest. Awning windows blend well with other styles of windows too, making them a popular pairing choice. As an example, many people pair awning windows with hopper windows (bottom hinge). Awning windows on one side of the room and hopper windows on the other, this will create a wonderful ventilation system within your home.

There are a couple of drawbacks that you should be aware of when considering an awning window for your home, namely the cost and size options. Awning windows are slightly more expensive than others. However, if cost isn’t an issue for you then this is a non-issue. Since awning windows are usually more wide than they are tall, these windows may not always be a great fit for your room of choice. We recommend consulting with one of our design consultants to determine the best choice for windows in your room as we can help you find the right look and the right price.
